What do they all have in common? They are all bugs that can fly, but they also are all pollinators! Bees just happen to be the most efficient pollinators and the focus of our study.
Did you know? Beetles are pollinators too
Flies:
- All flies have two sets of wings and one set of halteres- small organs that look like airpods
- Without halteres flies couldn’t fly! They help stabilize them since they only have 2 wings
Wasps:
- Have 2 wings, and typically spiky legs
- Look more like bees than you think!
Bees:
- Have 4 wings, distinct wing patterns
- Have some sort of branched hairs
What about all of these, what do you think they are?
