Our Achievements

Since 2014 the STEM Research Lab at Massasoit has trained more than 200 student interns in rigorous standards of conducting ecological research. Along the way a vast dataset has been collected, providing valuable insight into wild pollinator populations and abundance. Students who participate in conducting research at the Massasoit STEM Research Lab have benefitted from hands-on field and lab experience. Students successfully move onto Bachelor of Science programs at highly-rated research universities and colleges.

Journal Club

Scientific literacy is a key skill that students gain at the Massasoit STEM Research internship. Through reading and presenting scientific articles related to bees students learn study design, data collection methods, statistical analysis, and to think critically.

Journal Club teaches students to read and comprehend scientific literature. Every other Friday during the school year we meet to discuss the latest chosen paper and watch a student presentation. You are invited! We welcome everyone to join us for Journal Club, even if you are not participating in the internship. Stop by the lab (S-534) to see the schedule and take a copy of the paper that we are reading that week!
